The reconstruction of the old ClanBase website has started. ClanBase was once one of the most important online competition platforms for PC gaming, with clans, players, ladders, cups, matches, rankings, news, forums, and years of community history. It was especially important in the early days of online esports, with competitions around games like Counter-Strike, Quake, Unreal Tournament, Call of Duty, and many others. ClanBase officially closed in December 2013, leaving a big part of competitive gaming history scattered across archived pages, old community posts, screenshots, demos, and memories from former players and admins. ([HLTV.org][1]) The goal of this project is to rebuild the structure and feeling of the old ClanBase website, while also trying to recover as much public historical data as possible. This includes old clans, players, ladders, cups, match results, rankings, news posts, and other public information that can still be found through sources such as the Internet Archive and older community references. This is not meant to be a commercial relaunch or a replacement for the original organization. It is a preservation project and a community effort. ClanBase was important to many people, not only because of the matches and rankings, but also because of the community around it. For many players, it was the place where teams were formed, rivalries started, cups were played, and gaming history was made. The first phase of the project is focused on rebuilding the website layout and core structure. After that, work will continue on importing and organizing available public data. The main parts currently being investigated are clans, players, ladders, matches, cups, rankings, news archives, and game sections.

Because the original database is not publicly available, the reconstruction will take time. Some parts may be incomplete, and some data may never be fully recovered. Still, enough public traces remain to rebuild something meaningful and useful for people who remember ClanBase, or for people who want to explore an important part of early online esports history.

Anyone who has old data, screenshots, demos, archived pages, technical information, or memories from ClanBase is welcome to contribute. Even small pieces of information can help restore a larger part of the old community.

This project is still in progress, but the direction is clear: preserve the history, rebuild the structure, and give the old ClanBase community a place to be remembered again.

PlayStation 4 and Xbox One both have their own exclusive game titles that might persuade you to lean towards one (no pun intended) or the other. Of course some of us are die hard fans of PC gaming and will probably never consider purchasing console at all. That is why we've added a new poll on the right side to for you to express your favorite choice.
